Pictures:
I chose these pictures because I feel that they very well represent this act. For the first one, Juliet is crying because a) Tybalt has died and b) Romeo has been exiled.
Act Three Songs:
Act 3, Scene1, Part 1
Song: Count on Me
By: Bruno Mars
This is an interesting choice, I know, but I feel that Romeo can be saying this to Mercutio after Tybalt kills him. You can count on Romeo because he goes and kills Tybalt and gets mad because Tybalt killed his best friend. One of the lyrics that show this in the song is "Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need." This shows that people find out who is really close to them in a situation like this. Romeo is closer to his best friend than his wife's cousin.
Act 3, Scene 1, Part 2
Song: Mountain Sound
By: Of Monsters and Men
I chose this song for Act 3, Scene 1, Part 2 because the lyrics in the first verse fit perfectly to Romeo's reaction of killing Tybalt. The lyrics are "I heard them calling in the distance So I packed my things and ran Far away from all the trouble I had caused with my two hands." These lyrics remind me of this scene because Romeo immediately runs away after he killed Tybalt because he heard people coming and he didn't want to go that far, which he did with his hands and sword.
Act 3, Scene 2
Song: Paradise
By: Coldplay
I chose this song for this scene because Juliet just wants everything to work out. One of the lyrics in the song is
"Paradise. Every time she closed her eyes." I feel like this means that her paradise is only a dream and she knows that. This is the scene in which she is told that her husband killed her cousin and the husband is getting exiled. I think Juliet's paradise would be a place in which her cousin would be alive, and her husband and cousin wouldn't fight. She'd not want to hide her love for Romeo.
Act 3, Scene 3
Song: Luck
By: American Authors
I chose this song for Act 3, Scene 3 because it shows how Romeo runs away after what he did to Tybalt. One of the lyrics goes like this "I know I let you down I'm sorry for how I up and left this town." This is what i think he would be saying to Friar Lawrence and Juliet, before he knows that he was exiled. Another lyrics could also represent this scene. "How can we both pick sides when we know nothing's right?" This definitely reminds me of this scene because he wanted, at first, to side with Tybalt, being his cousin's wife and all, but he also wanted to side with his friend Mercutio.
Act 3, Scene 5, Part 1
Song: I Will Wait
By: Mumford and Sons
I chose this song for Act 3, Scene 5, part 1 because Juliet is saying that she will wait for Romeo. Some lyrics that reminds me most of this situation isn't "I will wait for you," it is "Now I'll be bold As well as strong" and "Keep my heart slow." These songs remind me a lot about this scene because Juliet will have to put up with waiting for Romeo, while trying not to have to marry Paris.
Song: Love Don't Die
By: The Fray
I chose this song for the same scene because of Juliet having to wait until Romeo can come back. A verse that goes like, "A thousand years go by But love don't die," reminds me the most about the scene because Juliet is saying how, even if she has to wait a thousand years, she'll still love Romeo.
Act 3, Scene 5, Part 2
Song: Girl On Fire
By: Alicia Keys
I chose this song for Act 3, Scene 5, Part 2 because Juliet's world is (metaphorically speaking) "on fire." One of the lyrics that shows that her world is hard is "She's living in a world and it's on fire." Her world is on fire because her family is mad at Romeo for killing Tybalt, and she loves Romeo. She is trying to cope with being "mad" at Romeo so that her parents don't suspect anything, while being sad that he is exiled.
