Pictures:
I chose these two pictures because both show emptiness and the feeling of being alone. When Romeo and Juliet die, there is an emptiness that cannot be filled.
Act Five Songs:
Act 5, Scene 1
Song: I'll Follow You into the Dark
By: Death Cab for Cutie
I chose this song for Act 5, Scene 1 because it, to me, is the only song that properly describes this scene, in which Romeo is told that Juliet has died. One of the first lyrics go like this..."I'll be close behind I'll follow you into the dark." I think this represents this scene because Romeo wants to kill himself after learning that Juliet has died. He says, "Well, Juliet. I'll lay with you tonight." What he is saying is "Well, Juliet. I'll lay next to you tonight, dead, like you are."
Act 5, Scene 3
Song: Summertime Sadness
Song: Young and Beautiful
By: Lana Del Rey
I chose these songs for this scene because they are give a somber mood, and that is exactly how this scene is. It does end happily, with the parents becoming friends, but think of all the losses that happened to achieve this point: Romeo, Juliet and also Mercutio and Tybalt, in a way. The first song I chose because they are dying and love each other. One of the lines is "I know if I go, I'll die happy tonight" and they both (Romeo and Juliet) die because they want to be together. The second song I chose because it represents forever love and that is exactly what Romeo and Juliet have. They will die for each other so that they can be together, loving forever.

End-of-Book Song:
Song: Skinny Love
By: Birdy
I chose this song because, first of all, it sets a somber mood for the listener, giving goose bumps and a potential teary-eyed feeling. The lyrics that I think relate most to the end of the book are.."Right in the moment this order's tall. And I told you to be patient, And I told you to be fine." I think that these lyrics represent the song for the the End-Of-The-Book selection because Romeo wasn't notified that Juliet was still alive, and that was an important direction given to Friar John ("this order's tall.") Also, Juliet told Romeo that they would eventually be together ("I told you to be patient.")
